What is perfect decays. What is imperfect endures.  — ANTI-PERFECT

The inspiration to start MITSUGU SASAKI came from my activities in collecting vintage clothing. During this time, I was drawn to the unique charm of old workwear that had been repaired and the tattered Japanese farm clothes. I pondered what these items represented.

What I discovered was a common theme: someone, who was not a professional, had attempted to repair the holes with patchwork using fabrics of different colors. This effort conveyed a sense of love and warmth. I speculated that these repairs were likely made by a family member of the laborer who wore the clothes. The amateurish stitching, unlike that of professional repair craftsmen, captivated me with its charming stitches and mismatched patterns.

Inspired by this clumsiness and randomness, I felt that my mission was to revive these old clothes, which were destined to be discarded, and give them new value.

— ANTI-PERFECT

MITSUGU SASAKI

Super Boro Boro Collection
SUPER BORO BORO COLLECTION

1950s–70s European workwear, rebuilt by hand with Meiji and Taisho-era Japanese boro. Every piece is hand-stitched with patchwork and sashiko, one of a kind, and takes weeks to months to complete.

Old repairs made by someone who was not a professional carry a warmth no factory can reproduce. SUPER BORO BORO carries that work forward, giving clothes and fabrics destined to be discarded a second life as wearable art.
